Dee Lillegard finds the poetry within a house We are reminded that everything around us supplies us with beauty and should be appreciated as so From the floors to the cleaning supplies all of it is filled with a sense of character and it s own sense of uniqueness Dive in and watch the house come to life with each poem inside of it.The poems in the book are very short and easy to read While the poems are short, they are filled with tons of character and warmth The illustrations in this book Dee Lillegard finds the poetry within a house We are reminded that everything around us supplies us with beauty and should be appreciated as so From the floors to the cleaning supplies all of it is filled with a sense of character and it s own sense of uniqueness Dive in and watch the house come to life with each poem inside of it.The poems in the book are very short and easy to read While the poems are short, they are filled with tons of character and warmth The illustrations in this book are made out of paintings also making them unique and intriguing Overall, I would rate this book a 3 out of 5 stars. This poetry picture book can be paired with other poetry books by Shel Silverstein and Dr Seuss These books paired together can show children how different poetry can be Poetry does not need to be confined to specific guidelines It is a way to be free and express one s self.Poem Dryer When clothes are wet and want to cry, she warms them up and tumbles them dry I love this poem because it uses personification to give the dryer character This poem would be a great focus to show students how they can add life within their own poetry Through this poem students can see that poetry can be light hearted and fun not just serious and long It can get students thinking about their own poems and get them excited to write about every day things

This was a book that was very creative and it combined two keys elements that I use during my writer s workshop labeling and poetry This abstract version of associating poetry with every day household items offers a clear suggestion that poetry can be written about anything I use labeling in the beginning stages of my writer s workshop and encoding This is a skill that I focus heavily on in the beginning of the year because it lays a strong foundation for literature to come and connects illu This was a book that was very creative and it combined two keys elements that I use during my writer s workshop labeling and poetry This abstract version of associating poetry with every day household items offers a clear suggestion that poetry can be written about anything I use labeling in the beginning stages of my writer s workshop and encoding This is a skill that I focus heavily on in the beginning of the year because it lays a strong foundation for literature to come and connects illustrations to the text The book labels common household objects with the name and a four line stanza that is describing it s purpose This is an activity I would like to do with my kindergarteners It would be fun for them I think to choose a nonliving objects in the classroom, illustrate it, label it, and then write a four line description of it Eventually, we could focus on rhyming words but in the beginning just the formation of those sentences structures would be a start This illustrations are very clear and connect directly to the text The objects illustrated almost look as if they are ceramic and that would also offer another activity for older students to complete as well
