4 1 2 starsI m so happy to be back in Summer Beach, and delighted to get to see the characters from that series make appearances But this is a new series, and I found it and its characters equally enjoyable You don t need to have read the earlier Seabreeze Inn series to read this one It can stand on its own.Marina has just lost her job as a television news anchor in a most unceremonious manner She s upset and worried, and decides to head straight from the set to her grandmother s, Ginger s, 4 1 2 starsI m so happy to be back in Summer Beach, and delighted to get to see the characters from that series make appearances But this is a new series, and I found it and its characters equally enjoyable You don t need to have read the earlier Seabreeze Inn series to read this one It can stand on its own.Marina has just lost her job as a television news anchor in a most unceremonious manner She s upset and worried, and decides to head straight from the set to her grandmother s, Ginger s, house in Summer Beach, Coral Cottage It s named for its coral colored exterior Her bad luck remains as she finds Ginger away from home, doesn t have her key, and then sprains her ankle Luckily, a good neighbor steps in and sends her off to the Seabreeze Inn, where Ivy, Shelly, and Poppy take excellent care of her While there, she meets Jack, a Pulitzer Prize winning investigative reporter Marina isn t impressed by his demeanor, and doesn t yet know his background.Things start to change when he rents Ginger s guest cottage that lies behind the main house While Jack tries to come up with a subject for a book he intends to write while on sabbatical, Marina must figure out what to do with her life She thinks she has a plan, and she begins taking steps to make it a reality She has to do something to help pay college tuition for her twin children. In the midst of her turmoil, Jack discovers some surprise from his past that will impact on his future Andsurprises come to the forefront about Ginger s past, and maybe present And evenwhen Marina s sister, Kai, turns up suddenly, recently engaged, but uncertain about whether she should go through with it.Like the Seabreeze Inn books, this book will draw you in and keep you reading The characters are lovely, and the setting is a delight I did feel that things developed a bit too quickly and, sometimes, conveniently, but overall, I thought this was an enjoyable and delightful read It s perfect for beach reading, or with Coronavirus, backyard reading It s light, with just the right amount of seriousness to make it an interesting read.Do know that there is a sad aspect to this book concerning one of the characters having a terminal illness Nothing bad happens to her in this book, but if you are easily disturbed by such things, just know that it is there.I received an ARC of this book from the author I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book
