Liz Climo s art is perfectly paired with Jory John s writing These characters are adorable and will be very relatable for young readers I love that even the teacher was nervous and open about it

Wee little animals are each nervous about the first day of school in a way that s consistent with their demeanor Sloth will be too slow to get there on time, Kangaroo is too fidgety But when their teacher admits HE S nervous, too, the animals play on their strengths to support their peers and come together as a community in their classroom Just so, so funny, and PERFECT for the start of the school year whatever that looks like in 2020.

  5. Peacegal says:

This sweetly illustrated book stars animals in interview format discussing their jitters about the first day of school It reminded me of the Aardman animation Creature Comforts It s rather wordy for kids just starting kindergarten, but it works well as a beginner comic for slightly older kids.

  6. Pam says:

The animals are nervous about the first day of school Each shares their own worry with readers They discover that their teacher is nervous too They work together to make everyone feel better Snake even solves sloth s problem about missing the first day.Plenty of humo with underlying reassurances for young children heading back to school.
