While it s important when developing collections to center our focus on those readers we primarily serve, it s also worth remembering they have members of their immediate or extended families who need to read For this reason, there was never any hesitation to place picture books in a middle or high school library or board books in an elementary school library Picture books are powerful whether the narrative comes from someone s imagination or gathered information On the release date of pict While it s important when developing collections to center our focus on those readers we primarily serve, it s also worth remembering they have members of their immediate or extended families who need to read For this reason, there was never any hesitation to place picture books in a middle or high school library or board books in an elementary school library Picture books are powerful whether the narrative comes from someone s imagination or gathered information On the release date of picture books, sometimes the same titles are available in board book format Nerdy Babies Ocean and Nerdy Babies Space Roaring Brook Press, May 7, 2019 written and illustrated by Emmy Kastner are two such books With cheerful, informative and humorous text and images our youngest readers and those who read to them are invited to travel the oceans and into outer space Let s first see what the watery realms reveal. My full recommendation

I am old enough remember when the term nerd was a pejorative, and I went to a NYC high school that specialized in math and science, where it was a proud badge of honor So I am wincing at these being titled as such.Beyond that, I am trying to figure out how tired I was when I decided to buy this series, and my guess is that I did it when I was exhausted and slap happy after 8 week of summer reading events I m also guessing that I observed this series circulates well at a rival branch.Ugh I a I am old enough remember when the term nerd was a pejorative, and I went to a NYC high school that specialized in math and science, where it was a proud badge of honor So I am wincing at these being titled as such.Beyond that, I am trying to figure out how tired I was when I decided to buy this series, and my guess is that I did it when I was exhausted and slap happy after 8 week of summer reading events I m also guessing that I observed this series circulates well at a rival branch.Ugh I am about to create a new shelf entitled Multicultural meansthan skin and hair tones All these nerdy babies look alike They have no noses Their faces are identical and they all wear glasses nerds, get it Of COURSE they wear glasses.Ironically, the non human art is very good and very charming The text is excellent, simply worded facts and, thank goodness, no attempt at a rhyme In fact, if you took out the nerdy baby kitsch, these would be terrific books And that s why this gets 2 stars instead of 1 Or zero
