This is an odd little sweet well illustrated picture book On the surfac it appears to be a story about a child being taken to the doctor and how to behave and how everything is fine fineBut then it jumps the shark when the child loses their lollypop ont he bus and rather thne getting the kid a new lollypop or saying I told you so and letting it be a teaching moment the mother says oh we have to go back to the doctor to get a new oneCrazyThanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review

A life affirming truth even in the gorilla community I remember years ago my sister asked me to go with her to the doctors when my nephew was due his jabs She was worried her son would blame her for the pain and discomfort and wanted to cloud actual responsibilityWell here is a delightful book that envisages just such a scenario where mum’s know best they look after their children so much I’m glad it is phrased in this way rather than because they love you so muchA mother’s care includes ensuring you eat your greens; not sure why broccoli get such a bad press and you dress appropriately In addition they ensure you keep to your medical check ups Especially vaccinations and this is the story of holding mum’s hand and getting that shotIt is a simple event that impacts upon the life of all young children so why not learn how baby gorillas cope when there supposed to be brave and not cryThe illustrations fill the pages and make up for the simple words in the narrative In each scene there is so much going on a whole new story can be spoken about Two mice running for the bus and subseuent appearancesThe fundamental message is Mom always looks after me so much Not a sloppy tale but a practical one that resonates love and care A snapshot of life parental nurturing and support But immediately real and allowing one’s child to add the words to define this special relationship

The art on this is so beautiful and draws you in a nice story about a little gorilla with his mum going for his first vaccination The story shows children how much their parents look out for them and how much they are willing to do for them It’s a lovely story although I think the parents will appreciate the message than the children But it does good in showing kids vaccinations aren’t scary and about appreciation A lovely read and such beautiful illustrations

The little gorilla narrator of this engaging picture book from British authorillustrator team Sean Taylor and David Barrow explains how his mother is taking him to the doctor for a shot He mentions that his mother is always taking care of him making him eat broccoli dressing him in extra sweaters and so on and the implication is that he'd perhaps rather wish she didn't At least not so much But when the gorilla leaves his scented tongue suppressor given to him by the friendly doctor on the bus and his mother offers to take him back to the doctor to get another his conclusion that she always takes care of him so much is positiveA sweet picture book examination both of visiting the doctor's office for a shot and of the mother child bond My Mom Always Looks After Me So Much pairs a humorous and heartwarming tale with charming illustrations Sean Taylor has a deft touch here capturing his little gorilla narrator's feelings first of frustration at his mother's seeming overprotectiveness; then of trepidation at getting his shot; and finally of contentment at the knowledge that he is loved and well cared for The contradictory nature of these feelings is precisely the point we value our parents' care for us even when there are moments it feels stifling The artwork which looks like it might be done in watercolor the colophon doesn't say is lovely beautifully capturing the gorilla mother and child the many animal characters around them and the background setting Recommended to anyone looking for new children's stories about visiting the doctor andor the maternal bond

thank you to Netgalley and uarto Publishing Group Frances Lincoln Childrens for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review25 starsThe stars are 5050 for the illustrations and the actual story I cant figure out if I liked it or not On one hand its a nice sweet little story about not much in particular but that's also the draw back It wasnt much of a story and based on the title it's not what I was expecting I can see this being enjoyed by a limited number of people unfortunately It's not that it was bad because I don't believe it is but it's so that it's not so good or great Still it is cute and adorable in parts and yeah it's just a bit bland I do have a positive though and that is that I do like the cover Title is a bit misleading but the illustrations and the way its put together looks good and is what attracted me to this in the first place

Sweet book with watercolor illustrations About a Momma gorilla and her young son that are going to the doctor for him to get a shot he needs I loved the message that the Momma gorilla looks after her son so much and he is starting to rebel against this a little bit but he realizes that's a pretty great thing The only thing I think the Momma shouldn't have done is return to the doctor's after the little boy lost his first candy on the bus I don't think that's a good message to send to your child But all in all I liked this little book

What the hell was that In the beginning the book made sense a story about a child that scare of the doctor and the relation between his mom and him and how she takes care of him and all Cute and beautiful illustrations but then The kid drop his «candy» that the doctor gave him for being calm on the bus because he wasn’t paying attention and his mother just say «Hey we going to go all the way back to the doctor to ask for another one» Really How stupid and wrong this message his for kid Ridiculous

This delightful book stars adorable Little Gorilla and his reaction to a trip to the doctor with his mom to get a shot She is always looking out for his health and well being because she loves him so Mom makes sure he eats his broccoli that he dons an extra sweater if he sneezes and now makes sure he attends his doctor's appointment to get immunized The simple sentences and rich detailed illustrations marry together to make a funny heart warming picture book that young readers will enjoy His doctor tells him a joke gives him a jab and then offers him a juicy strawberry candy for being so brave Little Gorilla can't be happier An unfortunate mishap occurs when the two exit their bus making Little Gorilla very upset He mistakenly leaves his yummy piece of candy on board and is very distressed that it is gone Can Mom fix the problem Yes I'm sure she can Mom always looks after her little guy so much She knows exactly how to solve the problem and how to set Little Gorilla's world on happy mode once again Hurray for Mom The story highlights the special bond between an adoring mom and her precious son The book flows with loving actions between the two that result in warm fuzzy feelings for the reader to experience as the book is shared I highly recommend it

This is a cute story about a young gorilla being taken to the doctor Along the way his mom makes sure he is okay and takes care of him I loved the detailed and colourful illustrations that showed a lot of different animals doing different things such as shopping jogging or playing music during their journey We also see a lot of parents and their children on the bus There could be a lot of discussions about what others in the story might be doing to extend the story I like that this story shows the young gorilla getting vaccinations and that they are not painful The only thing I did not like was when the youngster loses his lollipop he got from the doctor his mom takes him back and the doctor gives him another one there was definitely an opportunity for a teachable moment missed there This is a cute story showing how much parents do for their children A book that would be a hit in a nursery school or kindergarten classroom The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book upon reuest The rating ideas and opinions shared are my own
