One of the things I liked about the book was that the text was repeated a few times during the course of a few pages, which allows the young reader to put emphasis on a different word in the sentence.

This very sparse text while a beginning reader is not the typical easy to read title Young children will catch on quickly to the I like format and quickly know the word from the whimsical illustrations.

This book has an uninspired repetitive text Each two page spread has a single sentence starting with I like my and ending with car, or truck, or van, or bike The illustrations perk things up They re imaginative and quirky But there s just not much here to love beyond that That being said, the book is clearly and deliberately designed to meet a specific need Beginning readers are given dull little books that are just like this, but in stapled paperbacks with lousy illustrations This w This book has an uninspired repetitive text Each two page spread has a single sentence starting with I like my and ending with car, or truck, or van, or bike The illustrations perk things up They re imaginative and quirky But there s just not much here to love beyond that That being said, the book is clearly and deliberately designed to meet a specific need Beginning readers are given dull little books that are just like this, but in stapled paperbacks with lousy illustrations This would give a beginning reader a chance to hold, enjoy, and actually read a real book There s something to be said for that

Early Reader The physical book is about the size of a Juv picture book Therefore, the illustrations are large enough that it could be used in storytime I plan to utilize it for my early toddler storytime, and will pair it with a transportation song If, you are reading one on one or in smaller groups, have children look for the girl and her dog on each of the pages This is a pre reading activity as it encourages visual perceptual and visual scanning skills.
