Will Ladybug Hug set the bar pretttttttty high Still, this was good I like the message of respecting others feelings and not expecting to fix anyone s mood.

My thoughts Hilary Leung is back with a all new book It features the same characters as the previous books of hers that I have read in the past I really enjoy these books because they have bright colors They are eye catching They have short and simple words and they are easy for little ones to understand when it is being read to them.My daughter really enjoyed this book I ended up reading it a few different times to her When she sees a book that looks familiar but is different then the ones she has been read in the past she kind of latches onto it I love that she does this because it helps her to learn and build a stronger vocabulary. As I was reading this book with her she was repeating some of the words and phrases back to me She was also pointing at the characters in the book and having fun making me tell her what the characters were and what they were doing over and over again After awhile I had to take the book and switch it out for a new, but she really wasn t ready to be through with it yet.I think this is a great book to add to any child s book collection I know for certain that it is a book that is going to be come a favorite in our house It might also become a favorite in your house.

This board book, part of a series dealing with emotions, follows Giraffe on a particularly bad day As sometimes happens for all of us, he wakes up feeling grumpy, and nothing his friends can do can erase the frown from his face Each of them tries hard to improve his mood, but nothing works In fact, he is so annoyed that he hurts their feelings When he realizes he needs to make up for his grumpiness and get them to laugh, he ends up falling into a mud puddle The facial expressions of all the animals, but particularly Giraffe, and their creative efforts will amuse young readers Everyone will love Frog s attempts to entertain his friend It s clear that bad moods are contagious and that we should appreciate the efforts of our friends when they are trying to help us feel better This one is great for sharing with little ones, especially those prone to a bit of grumpiness of their own.

When Giraffe wakes up, he feels grumpy and doesn t want to smile His friends want to cheer him up so they do different silly things to try to make Giraffe laugh, but nothing seems to work His friends become upset because they failed at their task, but this only makes Giraffe feel worse It s his turn to cheer them up.WILL GIRAFFE LAUGH teaches that when you re feeling down, you re friends can help It s all about friendship and animals The pictures are fun and simplistic My two year old lives the animals, but didn t understand what they were trying to do to cheer Giraffe up That added text would ve made this book that much better.Final Verdict I would recommend this to fans of animals and it s a great story for when you re feeling down. This review can also be found on YABC

This was in the recommended books from the Chicago Public Library monthly e mail, and the cover reminded me of one of my favorite contemporary picture book illustrators, Jon Klassen I laugh thinking of some of the facial expressions he s able to create, especially with the way he draws his eyes, and the cover for Will Giraffe Laugh looked promising The book itself had playful pictures, a good pattern, and opened up a good opportunity with dialogue at the end, asking How do you cheer up your friends which I think has some educational value, whether for a class of younger students or at home with a child.

A simple boardbook about cheering up friends Good for 2 year olds Miss 4 was bored.Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes We try to get different ones out every week or so it s fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new favourite authors.

  9. Rebecca Ann says:

The storyline of this series is somewhere between toddler and preschool, as toddlers will need a lot of dialogic reading to really follow the story Giraffe s face alone cracks me up, and I think readers of all ages can relate to the message.

  10. H says:

Giraffe is grumpy today He does not laugh at the shenanigans his friends attempt to get him to laugh But his resistance to laughter makes his friends sad So the tables are turned and Giraffe tries to cheer them up Does he succeed See for yourself
