Joe is a jewish GP who hates his evil father in law Gordon, the man who continually tried to ruin his relationship with Anna, now his wife.Gordon still has Anna at his beck and call and Joe decides to murder him. This is the story of Joe and Anna, their dark secrets and the reasons behind Joe s desire to kill Gordon It might not sound very exciting but I found this pretty compelling and very well written.Gordon is quite frankly, a bastard who deserves to die,a man who cares only about himself and u Joe is a jewish GP who hates his evil father in law Gordon, the man who continually tried to ruin his relationship with Anna, now his wife.Gordon still has Anna at his beck and call and Joe decides to murder him. This is the story of Joe and Anna, their dark secrets and the reasons behind Joe s desire to kill Gordon It might not sound very exciting but I found this pretty compelling and very well written.Gordon is quite frankly, a bastard who deserves to die,a man who cares only about himself and uses and bullies other people.Anna isn t exactly innocent herself, hiding secrets that will shatter her husband and just letting her dad rule her life.Joe isn t a nice person either and likes to blame everyone else for his problems.Yet despite the characters all being horrible, you do want to know what happens when all secrets are revealed Well worth a read

Starting this book I thought it would be a fairly light romantic drama, but in fact it is actually so muchThe opening scene is of the murder of a much hated old man, father in law to the main character From then on and through a series of flashbacks to key moments in the drama, the reasons for the murder become clear, as does the love between the two central characters It really is a beautifully written book and well worth reading.

  4. Sandra says:

It was fascinating how the dark side of each person was explored, but for me the highlight of the book was already in the first sentence which is the reason why I signed up for the bookring Good evening, dear friend I m extremely pleased to see you, but I m sure you ll understand why I can t give you my full attention Joe Fortune is just about to kill his father in law, and I ve no intention of missing this long awaited event.

  5. Sue says:

Cleverly written, this book starts with a murder and then takes us back into the past lives of the main characters Very thought provoking An impressive debut novel.

  6. Rachel says:

I really enjoyed this I heard the author speak at a literary festival recently She was so entertaining that I thought I d try one of her books.

  7. Julia says:

This was a compelling read after a tantalising beginning

  8. Rebecca says:

Easy read, quite a promising plot, a little disappointing in that the ending was too neatly tied up not very believable given the circumstances.
